Underwriting Assistant

The Underwriting Assistant with SteadPoint Group is responsible for the administrative and technical support of our Underwriting team. The Underwriting Assistant will take part in all phases of the Underwriting process to ensure efficient workflow and processes within their respective assigned book of business.


Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Underwriting Files: Ensures proper setup of new and existing Underwriting files to include completion of applications and supplemental information needed for all policyholders.  The UA will request and follow up for additional information from the Agent/Insured when needed.
  • Policy Servicing: Enrolls/issues all new business once bound as well as renewal policy issuance and delivery.  Processes all endorsement requests and communicates with the Underwriter on any endorsement needing prior approval.  The UA will handle Agent of Record communication, policy cancellations and other account/policy servicing items.
  • Customer Service:  Works with internal team members and our Agency partners to provide an overall level of top service for Policyholders.  This includes assistance with resolution of billing questions, loss run requests, and other items as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participates in continuous improvement by fully engaging department meetings, generating suggestions, following appropriate procedures and work principles, participating in problem solving activities, and other methods to support the work of the team.
  • Keeps current on state/territory issues, regulations and trends


Job requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience – 3+ years working within a Property/Casualty Underwriting team
